Back to the Rez and 35+/4's

Going into yesterday’s race I wasn't sure what to expect. After last weekends drubbing in the 35+ open category I was feeling pretty tired. I lined up in the front row, but didn't get the greatest jump and folks seemed to having a hard time holding there lines. I tried to remain patient and wait for my opportunities. After we got into the dirt section I jumped the right side and moved into 3rd wheel before the first u-turn. The pace was fairly moderate and I stayed third wheel for most of the first lap. Just before getting back onto the road, the lead rider washed out on a turn and took out the guy in second and in return almost took me out. I could have jumped to the front, but remembering what happened here two weeks ago, I remained patient as the lead rider got back up and in front. The crash created a small gap for us and as we came through the start finish area I just kept thinking to myself be smart, be smart. With the exception of the second lap, when one rider bridged up to us and then fell off, the two of us stayed away together for the entire race. The race came down to a two-up sprint and I won at the line by about half a bike length.
