I first learned about gradualism in a business ethics class. It was presented in terms of economics and the growth of the GDP in United States over time. How did we become such a powerful economic force in the world? Simply by Gradualism.
Gradualism. A powerful concept that changed how I look at a lot of things in life. Applied to biking, it's a steady and calculated approach to transforming oneself. Getting just a little bit better each time. The work is never done. It's a never ending process.
This picture is from three years ago at my first cross race at the Louisville Rec Center. I remember being terrified of evening warming up on the course while other races were going on. It's good to reflect on it.
Gradualism. It works!

When I heard that Brian didn't have a solid location for the finals Lyons certainly spoke up, a great group of us have really been wanting to put on or bring an event to our cycling friendly town. My initial vision was to use the Highschool & Bohn park. The highschool has a lung buster of a run up that is basically as long as you want it to be. In addition it has some double track & singletrack to include with the open grass, pea gravel & road sections. I'm not sure what Brian's course plans include but the area certainly could put on a killer race. Looks like the weather is cooperating with enough "good" weather to ensure the course will be tough no matter what the layout is. see you in Lyons.
